Bizet’s immortal opera, “Carmen” has served as the basis for numerous concert suites, none more beautiful and exhilarating than the one for strings and percussion by the great Russian composer and pianist Rodion Shchedrin. Concertmaster Yihuan Zhao will solo in Leonard Bernstein’s Serenade and the Chamber Orchestra rounds out the program with two romantic classics of the string repertoire by Elgar and Borodin.
- Bernstein: Serenade for Solo Violin, Strings, Harp and Percussion
- Bizet/Shchedrin: Carmen Suite
- Elgar: Serenade
- Borodin: Nocturne
