Two Storms to Hit This Week

Between a half inch and a full inch of rain is likely as the storms roll into the Southland Tuesday afternoon, lingering through Saturday.

A pair of winter storms were predicted to hit the Southland Wednesday and Friday, National Weather Service forecasters said.

"A low pressure system will develop Tuesday and will bring and cooler weather to the area Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday," forecasters said. "Then another storm will likely bring additional percipitation and gusty winds Thursday afternoon through Saturday."

Between a half inch and a full inch of rain is likely in the coastal plains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties from each storm. Snow was likely in the mountains, but snow amounts were not yet fixed in any NWS predictions from the Oxnard forecast office.

The storms were predicted to be stronger to the south of Los Angeles, and about twice as much rain was forecast for Orange and San Diego counties' coastal strip. Snow down to the 5,500-foot elevation was predicted as cold air moves in late Wednesday to the inland mountains near Idyllwild, Palomar Mountain and Alpine.

Not sure. There's not always an immediate answer to helicopters circling. Did anyone else hear orRead More see this? How long did it last? Was it just 1 copter or many police units?
