Red Flag Warning Issued for LA Coast Through Downtown

The warning is in effect from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 p.m. Saturday.

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for the Los Angeles County coast through the downtown area Friday. The warning is in effect fro 8 p.m. Friday through 6 p.m Saturday.

According to the National Weather service, winds are expected to peak Friday night and into Saturday morning. The warning indicates that wind gusts may reach 60-70 miles per hour in the mountains and 45-55 miles per hour along the coast and in the valleys.

The alert was issued due to dry conditions and the projected Santa Ana winds, which also means there is a higher risk for rapid fire spread, according to the National Weather Service.

Not sure. There's not always an immediate answer to helicopters circling. Did anyone else hear orRead More see this? How long did it last? Was it just 1 copter or many police units?
