Noguez Contributor Pays Less Tax on Palisades Home

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles County Assessor hasn't updated a campaign contributor's property value.

A report by the Los Angeles Times alleges Los Angeles County Assessor John Noguez hasn't updated a campaign contributor's property value for his Pacific Palisades home.

According to the LA Times, Jordan Kaplan's home was valued at $11.5 million nearly two years ago and, although the sale price is now $21.5 million, Noguez has not updated the value.

Property taxes are calculated based on assessed value, so because of the delay Kaplan has saved about $198,000, stated the report.

The LA Times reports Kaplan was a contributor to Noguez's 2010 campaign. Kaplan, his immediate family, co-workers and employees collectively contributed $30,000, stated the report.

Noguez's office told the LA Times the delay in reassessing the home was not related to Kaplan's contributions.
