New PCH Sewer Pipe Install Will Affect Traffic

PCH traffic will be slowed Monday through Friday night while the DWP prepares the highway for road for sewer pipe installation on April 11.

Road survey work will begin late Monday night to prepare for installation of a new $10 million waste water pipe that will run along PCH and help to keep storm water out of the ocean.

From Monday to Friday, starting at 9 p.m., workers will close one or two southbound lanes along PCH between Entrada Drive and the Annneberg Community Beach House, leaving remaining lanes open to traffic. Survey work will continue through 5 a.m. each of those days. All traffic lanes will be open in time for morning rush hour, said Michelle Vargas, public information officer for the Department of Public Works.

No impacts to northbound traffic are expected. Highway traffic will not be affected again until sewer installation begins on April 11. At that time, southbound traffic from Temescal Canyon Road to the Annenberg Community Beach House will be impacted intermittently through the end of 2012.
