Sprouts & Shutters: The Yard House, Tinga, Rockenwagner Bakery, The Waffle

Here's the latest roundup of retail, restaurant and other business news and happenings in L.A.'s Westside neighborhoods.

Sprouts:

The Yard House gastropub restaurant will soon open at its new location in the Marina Marketplace, which is undergoing a $25 million renovation and recently saw the addition of several new businesses, including the AMC dine-in theatre. The marketplace website also teases spring openings for Tender Greens, Le Pain QuotidienPier 1 Imports, Settebello and Yogurtland.

L.A. Eater devotes a photo gallery to the newly renovated Tinga (522 Wilshire Blvd.), the Mexican restaurant in Santa Monica developed by chef Jerry Baker. The chef took over Renee's Courtyard Cafe location in February. L.A. Eater says Tinga's menu items will be served until 1:30 a.m. daily, this in a city where most restaurants close before 11 p.m.

Rockenwagner Bakery, which wants to open a location in Brentwood at 1168 Barrington Ave. near Wilshire Boulevard, is still pursuing its plans, including alcohol sales for its restaurant. A citizen's appeal of an administrator's approval of the bakery plans was recently continued to May 1.

Eric Owen Moss Architects, known for dramatic projects built around the world, is working on The Waffle, a Culver City development that will feature flexible meeting space, an open conference area, a mezzanine lounge, informal gathering space, closed meeting rooms and an open roof deck. The Waffle is scheduled for completion in September 2013. It's a companion project to the Moss architects' Cactus Tower, located at 3585 Hayden Ave.
