Sprouts & Shutters: 3rd Street AMC Closes, Gwyneth Paltrow's Blow Dry Bar

Sprouts:

Gwyneth Paltrow is opening a blow dry bar in Brentwood. She's teaming up with her hairstylist David Babaii and trainer Tracy Anderson to open Babaii Blow Dry Studio in the studio space of Anderson's Brentwood gym, reports Refinery29. 

If you're craving gourmet late night snacks in Pacific Palisades, like mango chutney chicken with bree sliders or a spinach artichoke grilled cheese with lemon aioli, head down to Swarthmore Avenue on Friday nights to find The Munchie Machine food truck. It's run by Pacific Palisades and Brentwood locals Rob Grier and Oliver Caplain, and the truck will be posted near Steve's Deli from 4-9 p.m. (or later).

In case you missed the closing of J's Trattoria last fall at 15414 Sunset Blvd. in Pacific Palisades, the Italian trattoria Il Piccolo Ritrovo came in and did a complete overhaul, including installing a $25,000 wood-burning oven that fires at 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit and cooks a pizza pie in 90 seconds, reported Eater LA.

Shutters:

The AMC Criterion 6 on the Third Street Promenade played its last movies Thursday. One of three movie theaters on the Promenade, all of them owned by AMC, the 1,600-seat 6-plex will be converted into a flagship store for a retailer, according to Andy Agle, the city's director of housing and economic development. "I do not know which retailer it is," he said.

The Brentwood Village Market & Wine Shop is entering the final week of its liquidation sale before closing its doors for good. The discount was increased to 30 percent off and the store will remain open until March 31, according to its owner, who says he's losing his lease after receiving a notice of a rent increase.
