Palisades' Newest Frozen Yogurt Place Doing Well

The Village's new dessert spot, The Yogurt Shoppe, is extending their hours.

Correction: The article below had previously miscalculated the rate of gallon to ounce conversion the correct rate is now shown below.

Since opening its doors in February, business has been great for The Village’s brand new edition, . With popular flavors such as red velvet, cake batter and dulce de leche (caramel and sweet cream), it’s no surprise that the local dessert spot is doing well.

“We go through about 50 to 60 gallons of yogurt on a busy day and we have staples here,” said co-owner Clive Lewis. That's about $2,490 to $2,995 worth of the frozen dessert based on the store's 39 cent an ounce rate.

The Yogurt Shoppe offers an array of delicious flavors, their most popular being country vanilla, shoppe chocolate, cookies and cream , cake batter and of course, the original tart flavor.

Complementing the frozen dessert are a multitude of interesting toppings such as whoppers, mochi, lychee fruit and the ever-popular Oreo cookies. The most unsusual topping are probably the strawberry and mango poppers. These miniature spherical morsels are Korean-made, juice-filled bites that when pop when bitten. Although very tasty, be warned that if you are texture sensitive, poppers might not be the best choice of topping.

Young customers Olivia Allaire and Roxy Myer love the shop’s cake batter flavor.

“It’s basically a cake,” said Allaire when describing the contents of her cup. “I have cherries, sprinkles, Butterfinger, mochi, and cake batter. I’m guilty.”

The Shoppe recently launched their new loyalty program using a “frequent mix card.” By acquiring ten stamped purchases, customers can receive a free cup of yogurt or $4 off of their next cup.

With the new program and a new extension of hours on Friday and Saturday nights to 11 p.m., Palisades’ new treasure will more than likely stick around for a long while.
