Friends of Palisades Library Offers Adult Creative Writing Contest

The library board will accept submissions beginning Jan. 7 through Feb. 22. Winners will be announced March 23.

The Pacific Palisades Library Association invites the Palisades community to submit their original literary pieces to the second annual adult creative writing competition.

The categories will be in four groups:

  • Short story
  • Memoir
  • One-Act Play (set in a library)
  • Poem

A few rules: Writers must be residents of Pacific Palisades and at least 21 years of age. Submissions must be original, not published in any form, nor have won any awards. Entries that were submitted last year for this competition are not eligible. The prose categories may be no longer than three pages, 12 pt. font, double-spaced. Writers must submit only one piece. Poems are limited to 400 words.

The library board will accept submissions beginning Jan. 7 through Feb. 22. Submissions will be accepted at the Palisades Library. Winners will be announced at a festive reception at the library on Saturday evening, March 23. Published authors and poets will serve as judges for the competition.

In keeping with the highly successful and entertaining format for the children’s creative writing contests, professional actors will read the winning entries. Winning entries will be awarded prizes and, in addition, be published on the Pacific Palisades Library Association website, friends@friendsofpalilibrary.org.

Not sure. There's not always an immediate answer to helicopters circling. Did anyone else hear orRead More see this? How long did it last? Was it just 1 copter or many police units?
