Theatricum BOO-Tanicum Creeps Through the Canyon

The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga hosted its first Halloween event Friday.

Thespians traded bright stage lights for dim candlelight Friday evening at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga. The "Boo-tanicum" was the first year the theatre team transformed the grounds into a Halloween haven, complete with spooky stories, games, food and a haunted maze.

Organizers said 40 costumed actors would be prowling the grounds, ready to pounce on guests for a good scare. Approximately 20 of those actors are part of the Theatricum group.

Boo-tanicum organizers said ticket sales would benefit the theatre, so they were hoping for a good turnout. As soon as the gates opened at 4 p.m., lots of kids in costume were already itching to get into the pumpkin patch. So, we don't doubt many more ghosts and goblins crept up as soon as the sun went down!
