Video: Frozen Yogurt Fans Take Bites to Benefit Palisades Library

The Yogurt Shoppe on Swarthmore Avenue in Pacific Palisades is donating a percentage of sales to benefit the Palisades Branch Library.

When the August sun beats down in Southern California, it's hard to resist a brimming bowl of frozen yogurt. in Pacific Palisades is banking on that very craving to help benefit the local library.

During "Happy Hour" for the month of August, The Yogurt Shoppe will donate 15 percent of their profits to the . Happy Hour is from 5-7 p.m. daily.

"We heard recently that the local book store was closing down after many years and people were coming in and complaining and saying, 'You can buy yogurt, but you can't buy a used book anymore,'" said Clive Lewis, co-owner of The Yogurt Shoppe.

"And it made me think that there's an opportunity here that we can reach out to the community and show that we really want people to read and to benefit form having books and libraries," added Lewis.

"It's where they've grown up, it's where we run into people, it's where we meet people, its where we get stories read, we read our own," said parent Suzanne Freyer about the Palisades Branch Library. "It's a very important part of the Palisades and a part of the community."
