Pelicans in the Palisades

Armed with a waterproof camera, one local Pacific Palisades resident managed to capture these extraordinary photos.

Local resident Scott Simiril recently snapped these amazing photos of Pelicans along the coastline.

Simiril told Patch, “As you may know, there have been huge numbers of the birds feeding off our coastline this summer, much more than ever before.  I have a waterproof camera, and I love to swim in the ocean, so I swam into the middle of a pelican diving frenzy.  Quite exciting!  Hundreds of them diving around me, screeching, splashing, hitting the water with great force.  Some of these photos were taken on the beach and some in the water. "
