Pacific Palisades Weekend Wrap-up: Aug. 20-21

Did your Saturday and Sunday stack up to what fellow Palisadians were up to this weekend?

Maybe you stayed home this weekend with a good book and a movie, or perhaps it sent you overseas. Whatever you chose to do with your Saturday and Sunday, Pali Patch has no doubt it was memorable. After all, with the beach on one side and the mountains on the other, Palisadians know how to make the most of a day off.

In this week's edition:

Big Catch

Jamie Vogt, who spent a few of her younger years in the Palisades, sent in a photo of her 11-year-old son, Ryan. Vogt now lives in Redmond, OR, with her family. This photo features Ryan with a big catch, a 10-pound steelfish, which he caught on the lower Deschutes River in central Oregon this weekend. Ryan's family says the fish was not part of Sunday night's dinner. Since it was not tagged, they had to throw it back. But, it's all in good sportsmanship. Ryan's grandmother, Palisadian Wendy Price Anderson, says there's nothing else the 11-year-old would rather do this summer than go fishing!

Ripe for the Picking

It was hard to resist snapping off a photo of beautiful Pinot Noir grapes in the Santa Rita Hills in Santa Barbara County this weekend. With an important visitor in town, we headed up the coast to give him a taste of California!

Fine, Feathered Friend

Mary Ireland sent in a memory from a weekend back in February. She met this feathered friend, who apparently has an affinity for apples, along Will Rogers State Beach. An apple a day might keep the doctor away, but it could also bring a duck to your door!

Send us your weekend photos … even if it's as simple as a sunny view from your beach chair. We'll post them next week. It's never too early to start dreaming about next weekend, right?
