Not only is it important for us to remember that home is a beautiful place this Monday, it's important for us to remember those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
According to USMemorialDay.org, Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, was first officially observed in May 1868 when "flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery."
Over 100 years later, we continue to remember those who have fallen while serving our country. So perhaps this is a moment to gaze at the stars and stripes that fly so elegantly over the Village in Pacific Palisades and remember the brave souls we've lost.
