Holiday Wish For Palisadians From Brother Satyananda

Leaders of local congregations share their holiday wishes leading up to the annual Pacific Palisades Ministerial Association's Inter-Faith Thanksgiving Service on Nov. 21.

Congregations will unite and give thanks at the on Nov. 21 for the annual Pacific Palisades Ministerial Association’s . The service, which will include prayer, readings from both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, meditations and music is an effort to bring Palisadians together.

Leading up to the service, the participating ministers and leaders of the local congregations are sharing what they are thankful for this year. The following is from Brother Satyananda from the Lake Shrine Temple of Self-Realization Fellowship.

My name is Brother Satyananda and I am minister of the Lake Shrine Temple of Self-Realization Fellowship in the Palisades. In the days surrounding this year's anniversary of 9-11, our temple, in concert with many other churches, held special meditation and prayer events to honor those who lost their lives, and to strengthen our nation's efforts in moving forward together with peace. I feel that this effort has been fruitful and I give thanks that it has also brought our temple congregation closer together. Paramahansa Yogananda, founder of Self-Realization Fellowship once said, 'When you know God as peace within then you will realize Him as peace existing in the universal harmony of all things without.' So my wish for Palisadians this holiday season, is to nurture an attitude of peace at heart, then share this peace among family and friends. Come and join us in our Sanctuary at 17080 W. Sunset at 7 p.m. on Nov. 21, 2011 for a one hour inter-faith celebration!
