Feeding Frenzy Spotted Off Pacific Palisades Coastline

Pelicans, dolphins and other marine life have been seen by residents near Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades for over a week.

There's been a feeding frenzy of marine life off the Pacific Palisades coast at Will Rogers State Beach for the last week or so.

A Palisades Patch reader said there have been "hundreds" of pelicans in the water and he's never seen an incident like this in 20 years. As shown in the above image, pelicans, dolphins and even larger fish and mammals appear to be going after one huge school of fish.

Here are comment samples from the Facebook page:

It's been happening on Sunset and Up in Malibu. Really strange and kinda eerie- Bu Mbsc

Pelicanado! - Scott Vyduna

Yes, YES ! Every morning on the way into work. I drive by anytime between 6:30 and 8:30. Everything you are saying is happening. All of it. Plus the dolphins splashing and playing in the glassy flat water. I am glad somebody else appreciated this. What a wonderful sight to see on your way to work ! We are so lucky to live here and experience this. I like the fact that Fire Station # 69 and 23 are down there also, doing their AM exercises and whatnot. Cool. I just never posted it as no one would have believed me ! - Steve Hart

Yes, I saw them a few days ago in the water at Temescal! I have never seen that before! I was watching them from the bluffs at Via De Las Olas. - Georgia Dent Inferrara.

Saw them Saturday morning! - Christa Dietrich-Granton

My daughter and I have been paddling out with them every day for a week. Truly amazing event!!! The fish are a couple of inches long. The dolphins and birds are very happy.  - Karen Fairbank

I hope nothing weird is driving the fish to shore! - Jyoita McCarry

Have you seen the feeding frenzy? Thanks to everyone who sent in submissions for this one, especially to Amanda Parzen Gruen who shared the video!
