A Toast to a Good Cause

Wine tasting event raises $20,000 for students at Palisades Charter High School.

The and the Optimist Club of Pacific Palisades raised $20,000 during the "" last month.

About 200 people attended the event at . The goal was to raise money for the Palisades Optimist Foundation Scholarship Fund.

More than 30 California wineries participated in the fundraiser. Optimist Club member Peter Scolney has been the event chair for the past 8 years and said residents should mark their calendars for this event!

"The event was a huge success," Scolney said. "People who missed it this year should correct their error next year."

Although the event is 8 years old, this is the first co-sponsored with the Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President and Palisades Charter High School Chief Business Officer Greg Wood co-chaired this year's fundraiser.

The Foundation awards scholarship grants for students at who show scholastic improvement, have a financial need and are involved in community service.

Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl and the principals from Palisades Charter High and were also in attendance.
