Haas Wins Big at Northern Trust Open
Bill Haas beat out Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley in a sudden death play-off.
South Carolina's Bill Haas took home the title at the Northern Trust Open Sunday, but it wasn't a sweep by any means. Haas birdied to win on the second sudden death play-off hole at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.
Haas was tied with San Diego-born golfer Phil Mickelson and Vermont's Keegan Bradly after finishing the final round, each at seven under par. The trio tied again during the first sudden death play-off at the 18th hole.
"You're here, you've earned it. Enjoy the moment," said Haas in a post-tournament press conference. "I'm nervous as heck out there and don't want to screw up, but I tell myself, 'You wouldn't be nervous if you missed the cut, you wouldn't be nervous if you were in 40th place. Enjoy this. Who knows what can happen.'"
